Alexandrite - Technically I am a color changing variety of Chrysoberyl that is green in natural daylight and red to violet in color when under man made lights. My hardness is 8.5 and my luster is vitreous and greasy and I am a transparent crystal. I am as beautiful as I am rare; first found in the Ural Mountains of Russia, I am now mined in many places in the world, but none are as fine as the ones from Russia. Watch out for fakes and imitations; (we use Russian lab-grown in our jewelry below). I have long been associated with luck and love; I am sometimes used in love spells! My crystals carry my vibration of joy. I help one to recall past lives and learn lessons from them. My colors stimulate the heart and the crown chakras.
