Apache Tears
Stone Metaphysical Properties Apache
Tears –
Technically I’m a variety of Obsidian, a glass like silica rich rock formed in
volcanic eruptions. I’m found primarily in the south west United States and
Mexico. I’m named Apache Tears
based on the true-life event of the Apache tribe being driven off their native
lands by the US Cavalry. The
story describes the warrior’s last stand where they were backed up against a
steep cliff and choose to die rather than be re-located.
Those that were left of the tribe were gathered up and relocated to the
existing tribal lands today. During
the relocation, the Apache women shed tears of deep sorrow that solidified into
droplet shaped stones now found throughout the area.
I’m generally found in pieces around ½ inch in diameter, mostly round
with a brown-to-brown black translucent color. I
help people to metaphorically “shed” tears for one in times of sorrow
whether it is past or present sorrow. This
allows for a true understanding and insight of a situation promoting healing and
release. I have been found to
promote a willingness to forgive others. Like
other Obsidians, I can be helpful in grounding and protection from negative
energies. My Affirmation – The Earth is my home; I’m
grounded, safe and protected. I
release any wounds or negativity that might hold back my spiritual growth.
