Owyhee Blue OpalOwyhee Blue Opal: (Pronounced Oh-WAH-hee) Stone Metaphysical Properties Owyhee Blue Opal - Technically, I'm a hydrated silica material with a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5. I get my opal essence from my microscopic silica spheres which bond to water inside me. Unlike other opals which diffuse more light and show more dramatic opal fire, my beauty is more in the depth of my color, and my subtle glow of opal-essence. I was discovered back in 2003 in the opal rich area of eastern Oregon near the sacred Indian springs of Owyhee, Oregon. I am unique thus far in appearance to all other opal stones found to date. My rich blue coloring is reminiscent of the finest Blue Chalcedony but with the translucence and golden highlights of Oregon Opals. When held to a light, even tumbled pieces of me have the wonderful glow of opal-essence. As my color would hint at, I am good for working with the throat and third eye chakras, with an interesting twist. My opal-essence links these energy centers to the solar-plexes. Thus together, I help to meld the powers of perception, expression and will. I also help to ward off many expressions of blocked energy such as shyness, inappropriate fears, and feelings of powerlessness and confusion. My blue stones provide a calm, quiet strength allowing one to choose words, action or non-action as the best means of achieving one's purpose. My Affirmation - I see deeply, speak truly, hear clearly and act with calm certainty.
